I participated in my second 48 hour film festival this weekend & our film rocks! What a fantastic experience...everyone kicked some serious butt. I was the team leader & had a friggin' amazing time. The phenomenally talented Catherine Butterfield joined us as our writer & I had the pleasure of starring in the film opposite the hilariously talented Molly Hagan!
The basic idea of a 48 hour film fest is that you are assigned a genre & given a prop, a character name & a line of dialogue that must be used in the film. You have 48 hours to write, shoot & edit your 4-8 minute film. Our genre was BUDDY film Line of dialogue: The Opera Chef Sings & Cooks Prop: Plunger Character name: Maxwell Geanalkoplis Catherine wrote us a smart, adventurous & absolutely hilarious Buddy film! We shot from 8:30 am to midnight on Saturday! And after my hubby & his brother edited the crap out of the film (I mean that in a great way) we turned our exactly 8:00 minute film in at 7:00pm this evening, an hour early...so cool! I love that a group of friends got together to create something! Everyone pushed themselves to learn new things & live outside their comfort zone and yes, of course there were times when we all got tired & stressed out, but we persevered & ended up with something I am certain we all can be proud of! I personally learned so much about editing & script supervisor & directing & sound & ACTING! But honestly, I don't know if I will ever do one again, I don't know how we could top this one!! I am really looking forward to seeing all of the films that were made by all of the teams. No matter what anyone's end project may look like or sound like, I have such respect for anyone who was on a team...and there were a few teams that were one man bands...write, shoot, act in, edit all by your self???? I think that is unbelievably ballsy!
